Day 1 Effective Communication

  • Identify barriers to effective communication.
  • Identify the skills and qualities of an effective communicator.
  • Use effective verbal, written and behavioural skills.
  • Listen and respond effectively.

Managing Self: Time Management

OBJECTIVES


To be able to:
  • Identify better ways of increasing your efficiency and effectiveness through better time management.
  • Differentiate between demands on your time and set your own priorities.
  • Realise more of your goals by utilising your time more effectively.
  • Analyse the problems of time management and decide how to deal with them.

Day 2 Developing people

OBJECTIVES

To be able to:
  • Understand the difference between a group and a team and the benefits and characteristics of effective teams.
  • Analyse and assess their own and others’ strengths and weaknesses within the team.
  • Identify the factors, which can block team performance and establish strategies to overcome these.
  • Identify training and development needs.
  • Use the learning cycle to plan training and development.
  • Identify evaluation methods to ensure success.
  • Devise successful introduction to role and workplace

Managing People

OBJECTIVES


To be able to:
  • Assess their own leadership ability, qualities and style.
  • Lead and develop their team more effectively.
  • Recognize the responsibilities of leadership and the roles to be played by the leader.
  • Understand the stages of team development.
  • Identify some of the factors which tend to motivate and those which do not
  • Find ways of motivating the members of their own team

Day 3 Management Skills and Competency

OBJECTIVES

To be able to:
  • Identify problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Use communication effectively to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Identify useful “models” which could be employed in the decision-making process.
  • Give and receive feedback to produce desired outcome
  • Set achievable and realistic goals and objectives

Managing Change


OBJECTIVES

To be able to:
  • Identify the underlying reason for change.
  • Identify the forces behind change.
  • Anticipate and recognise reactions to change.
  • Overcome resistance to change.
  • Work towards the creation of an atmosphere in which change can be accepted.

This programme will be delivered in an interactive style using a range of training techniques, resources and activities. Course handouts are provided.
